Animal Cookies

As a kid our favourite cookies were always animal cookies, so why not make a grown up version with these awesome new Karen Walker cookie cutters! The cookie recipe was for a basic sugar cookie which tasted really delicious, was soft and melted in your mouth. We have 3 moulds, a bear, a cat and a daisy. We thought they were pretty adorable! Even if you don’t have cool cookie moulds, these will still taste delicious if they are round!

  • 2 1/3 cups Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Cacao powder (or Cocoa)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 170 g Butter
  • 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence
  • 1 Egg
  1. Combine Flour, Cacao Powder, Baking Powder and Salt in a bowl
  2. Beat Butter, Sugar, Vanilla Extract and Egg until smooth
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients until well mixed
  4. Chill the mixture for 30 minutes, then roll until about 1/2 cm thick
  5. Cut using the moulds and place on a baking tray and bake in oven at 175 degrees celsius for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown
